To Zoom or Not to Zoom?

Wondering if you should be using Zoom, since it’s been in the news? Here’s the word from our security engineers as of right now. If you can’t feasibly switch to a business-grade platform like Microsoft Teams, GoToMeeting or Cisco Webex, we recommend taking the following steps to help make Zoom more secure.

  1. Make sure your software is up-to-date.
  2. Ensure all meetings require a password to start, and use the lobby feature. Delete all old, public, password-less meetings.
  3. Ensure 2FA is enabled on all meeting administrator accounts.
  4. Avoid sharing critical or highly sensitive data in a meeting and use a direct phone call outside of the meeting to share such information.
