In the Community

Outside of the IT world, we have a variety of interests and believe in giving back.

When we’re not in the office, you’ll often find us out and about, contributing time and talents to improve our communities, from monitoring the progress of a fragile bird species (piping plovers, check ‘em out!), to cleaning area biking and hiking trails, or participating in career day at the local high school.

Doing Our Part

  • e-Waste Drive – Each year in April, to celebrate Earth day, we pick up unwanted, recyclable IT equipment from businesses in metro Detroit and the Traverse City area. The businesses benefit from not having to use their resources to dispose of e-waste, and they reclaim valuable space in their offices. The Earth enjoys not having hundreds of pounds of e-waste (including hazardous materials) thrown in local landfills. Safety Net volunteers get a great workout!
  • Casual for a Cause – If you happen to be in one of our offices on a Friday, please be assured we’re still IT professionals, even in jeans. Anyone in denim has made a charitable contribution that week to let their casual wear come to work.  Some previous Casual for a Cause benefactors have been Alzheimer’s Association and NAMI – National Alliance on Mental Illness.
  • Northwestern Michigan College and TBAISD Career Tech – We have served on the advisory boards of both of these institutions for many years, and contribute scholarships to IT students.

Staff Volunteer Work & Causes We Support

We cannot seek achievement for ourselves and forget about progress and prosperity for our community... Our ambitions must be broad enough to include the aspirations and needs of others, for their sakes and for our own.
